Tendrils, an art quilt by Kristin Miller

Dance of the Spirals is a large art quilt wallhanging composed of intertwining patchwork spirals.

Drawing a spiral with a pencil only takes a second, so it may be hard for the non-quilter to understand how difficult and exhilarating it is to sew free-form patchwork spirals without a pattern. Each spiral develops its own unique shape and energy, then intertwines with the others, like dancers on the dance floor or like tendrils reaching for the sun. Hand and machine piecing; quilted by hand.
