Detail of Quilting Stitches on Spiral Dance

Vivid lines of hand quilting spiral from the center of the quilt.

DMC perl cotton and tatting threads were used for the hand quilting.

This photo shows an area of the quilt about 2 inches wide

I want my quilting stitches to enhance the design of the quilt, and I often combine hand and machine stitching in the same quilt.

In the detail at the right, you can see both
hand-quilted stitches, and machine stitching.

The hand-dyed gray fabric has been quilted by machine with a serpentine stitch, while the yellow and purple areas have been quilted by hand.
In case you are wondering, all of my machine stitching is guided by my own hand and eye.
