The broken string of antique black jet mourning
beads and the deeply carved vintage shell button come from my family treasures.
The piece of dried kelp comes from a British Columbia beach.
I'm not sure what made me want to combine
these objects in the same piece. Perhaps they share attributes of
vitality, motion, and loss.
The beaded and raveled threads are meant to
evoke the mystery of what is not seen in the night. |
