"The Multi-racial Family in Canada" Quilt Project

Making a quilt square was one of the drop-in activities offered recently at a Victoria, B.C. celebration of multi-racial families and their contributions to Canadian culture and to the community. Children and adults took part, using fabric to depict themselves and their families.

"My family comes from several completely different
racial groups. But they all  like to fish."
                                              Daniel, age 10

This was Daniel's first time using a sewing machine.  He cut the people out of a hand-woven
belt he found in the scrap basket, added the fish,  painted the water, and stitched it all together.  The black lines are fishing poles.
