My mother saved many of my baby clothes.
Perhaps unwisely, I decided to cut them up to use in this quilt.
It was a poignant experience to deconstruct
these garments--a meticulously sewn pink romper that had been made by an
elderly relative, a pinafore hastily stitched by my mother, my well-loved
apron with pockets for holding crayons. |

As much as possible, I used my own garments as the raw
materials for 'Life's Journey'.
The pink corduroy is from a circle skirt I made in
junior high, the turquoise wool from a garment I wore in high
school.
The white cotton bra, however, was bought at great price
on eBay. It is truly vintage! |
