Details of The Eagle Quilt
made by Sylvia Edlund and Kristin Miller
 |
Sylvia is a
biologist, and she took infinite care in constructing the eagle. She began
by poring over books with drawings and photos of eagles, as she wanted to
have every detail correct.
The head of the eagle is shaped and padded, and
beautifully embellished with metallic threads. |
|
| Kristin has sculpted the
mountains, hills, and boulders to give depth and texture to the landscape.
The trees are sewn from tiny snippets of threads and
yarns.
The ripples in the river are created by superimposing
shreds of a crinkled fabric over the hand-dyed substrate, and sewing them
down with tiny invisible stitches. |
